Green Mountain Farm was founded in 2019 when I (Melody Simpson) decided to turn my family's hobby farm into a career. We had an overabundance of goat milk from our American Alpine goats, so I began researching ways to use it and found goat milk soap. 

After a failed first batch, I made a successful batch. My mom posted about it on Facebook, and I immediately sold out, so I made another batch, and another, and another. After reading the "fine print" on the micas and fragrances I was using, I found the side effects unsettling. So, I immediately threw out every synthetic ingredient I had and switched my company to 100% natural ingredients. A year after becoming a Virginia Tech Agricultural Technology graduate, I married my best friend. We now own 4 acres in West Virginia with dreams of home renovations and land improvements. 

When moving states, I made the difficult decision to sell the goats. Starting over is intimidating, but getting to do it alongside my partner for life is such a blessing.
