ABOUT US

From average teenager to business owner

Green Mountain Farm was founded in 2019 when I (Melody Simpson) decided to turn my family's hobby farm into a career. We had an overabundance of goat milk from our American Alpine goats, so I began researching ways to use it and found goat milk soap.

After a failed first batch, I made a successful batch. My mom posted about it on Facebook, and I immediately sold out, so I made another batch, and another, and another. After reading the "fine print" on the micas and fragrances I was using, I found the side effects unsettling. So, I immediately threw out every synthetic ingredient I had and switched my company to 100% natural ingredients. I now spend my time at Virginia Tech learning all I can about agriculture, improving my small herd of American Alpine goats through genetics, and supplying my local and online community with gentle, natural goat milk soap. I am passionate about genetically parasite-resistant goats and have made it my mission to inform other farmers about the downside of overusing chemical dewormers and how important genetics are when it comes to parasite management. I also love to use my social media platforms to educate about the dangers of using synthetic products on your skin and how natural soap has changed my life. I post daily content on my social media platforms about being a small business owner/farmer in college, sharing each step of the journey to my dream - opening a destination farm here in Blacksburg that will serve to educate the public about agriculture. Every purchase brings me one step closer to that dream, and I'm so very thankful for each of my customers. You mean the world to me!

Sincerely,

Melody, Founder/Owner

Cruelty Free

The goats would agree

Goat milk is liquid gold, it's been known to cure illness for centuries. Now, I won't claim my soap will heal your skin, but I will say this magical liquid is collected in a cruelty free process. Each goat on my farm is healthy, happy, and closely monitored. The health of my herd comes first. Each goat is hand milked and cared for individually, so you can treat your skin to this liquid gold without worrying about the animal it came from.
